DENVER – A female juvenile has been charged as an adult for First-Degree Murder in the death of her 7-year-old nephew who went missing in Denver last week.

Charges were filed in the District Court Monday afternoon against a 16-year-old, who was later identified as Jordan Vong’s aunt.  She is facing one count of First-Degree Murder and one count of Child Abuse resulting in death.

According to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, the charges allege that on August 6, the juvenile killed her nephew and wrapped his body in a blanket. She reportedly hid him in a portable closet in her basement bedroom.

Police said Vong went missing near Chambers Road and Bolling Drive around 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 6. Officers then found his body “intentionally concealed” inside a family member’s home Tuesday morning, according to Denver Police.

Police then updated in a news conference Wednesday that they arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the death, but couldn’t comment on their relationship at the time.

The juvenile’s first court appearance has yet to be scheduled. The cause of Vong’s death is still being determined.
