COLORADO SPRINGS – A five-year-old boy pulled from a pool along with two other children passed away on Wednesday, August 8th. The other two children rescued from the pool were released from the hospital the day after the accident.

Emergency dispatch received calls from neighbors on August 5th, asking for help after finding three children underwater in the 3100 block of E Fountain Blvd.  This was at the Townhouse Apartments off Fountain and Shasta Drive.

Police said when firefighters and officers arrived, the three children were alive and being pulled out of the pool and given CPR.

The funeral for the child is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Multiple neighbors, including a 12-year-old girl, helped pull the children out of the pool and call 911. “One of the kids jumped in the pool and started grabbing the kids out and handed them to me and I had to lay them out and then I stepped to the side and called 911,” said neighbor Zahkaia Poole.

“This is a very difficult scene here,” said Colorado Springs Police Public Information Officer, Lt. Howard Black. It is unknown what led up to the incident or how many families are involved.

Police said detectives have remained on scene Sunday night working to piece together exactly what happened. “What’s most important right now, obviously, is making sure that these kiddos are receiving the best treatment possible and that they can survive this tragedy,” said Lt. Black.

There are no further details being released at this time.
