The driver of a stolen car wanted in connection to several robberies was transported to a local hospital for injuries after crashing into two other cars Wednesday afternoon.

A black Jeep matching the description of a car wanted in connection to several recent personal robberies was seen in the area of East Fountain Blvd and South Chelton Road around 11:15 a.m.  Police said the driver ran a red light at southbound Chelton Road and hit two other cars in the intersection.

The driver then fled the scene on foot, but was caught following a short foot pursuit with officers.

The Jeep driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and taken into custody. Police said the other two drivers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.

CSPD said critical evidence was recovered at the scene of the crash. Detectives then discovered the black Jeep was stolen out of Colorado Springs.

This is an ongoing criminal investigation, people are asked to continue to avoid eastbound Fountain Boulevard. Anyone with information or is a witness to the investigation is asked to call CSPD at (719) 444-7000.
