Starting early Monday morning, drivers will notice changes to driving on I-25 on the north side of Colorado Springs.
CDOT announced lane switches will start on the southbound side of I-25 at 5 a.m. Monday between Woodmen Road and Garden of the Gods Road. Drivers in the left two lanes of SB I-25 will drive on new lanes through the existing median and onto existing lanes of NB I-25. Drivers in the right lane of SB I-25 will have their own lane with barriers on both sides.
Traffic on the northbound side will be shifted, but three lanes will be open on both sides of the interstate. The Rockrimmon interchange project is designed to eliminate large bumps on the ramps and highway near the bridges and to extend the life of the concrete in the area.
The project is expected to wrap up in December.
