A community meeting for the Spring Fire was met with some welcome news Saturday afternoon as people learned the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office has a arrested a man on charges of arson.
According to a deputy at the meeting, the suspect named Joergensen was arrested on the same day of the fire. Local authorities, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement all took part in the investigation. People attending the meeting applauded that news.
Rumors have gone around for days about an arrest, but this is the first confirmation from law enforcement. News 5 is working on finding out how the fire was started and why immigration officers are involved in the case.
