Multiple deadly crashes overnight in Colorado Springs

There were two deadly crashes overnight in Colorado Springs.

The first crash happened just after two a.m. at Powers Blvd. and Palmer Park Blvd. This was a single vehicle wreck involving a motorcycle. Police said when they arrived on scene, they found that the driver had lost control of the bike prior to impact and died at the scene. Their investigation revealed the man hit a median and an electrical box during when he lost control.

The driver of the motorcycle has yet to be identified. CSPD said the intersection at Powers and Palmer Park will most likely remain closed for several hours while they complete their investigation. Drivers should avoid the area.

The second deadly crash of the night happened at Nichols and Hancock, west of Palmer Park.

This accident also involved a single vehicle. According to Police, the lone vehicle was travelling eastbound on Nichols and hit the wall of the bridge at Hancock. After hitting the wall, the driver attempted to keep driving but was unable to do so.

Police said the passenger in the vehicle has died. The driver suffered no significant injuries but according to Police, could face felony charges related to the accident. There is no word yet on whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the wreck.
