Today, Friday, June 22nd, the largest recruit class in the history of the Colorado Springs Fire Department will graduate.
The 2018-1 Fire Academy class is made up of 33 recruits. Only 32 will be present for the graduation ceremony, as one recruit deployed with the U.S. Marine Corp and is unable to attend.
CSFD said the commencement signifies the completion of 17 weeks of emotional, mental, and physical sacrifices, as well as the beginning of a long and fulfilling career at the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
The graduation ceremony will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Woodmen Valley Chapel at 290 E. Woodmen Valley Road in Colorado Springs.
Speakers at the event include: Master of Ceremonies – Jon Karrol, Fire Chief – Ted Collas, Presiding Municipal Judge – Hayden Kane, Training Lieutenant – Justin Koch, and Training Captain – Brad Starling.
