Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-car crash, where one person died in El Paso County Saturday.

Investigators said the crash happened on I-25 near milepost 151 around 10:44 a.m. A 2014 Ford Edge was reportedly traveling southbound in the left hand lane of I-25, when it hit the back end of a 2003 Buick Regal.

The impact caused the Buick to spin counter-clockwise while the Ford spun in a clockwise direction before both cars came to a stop. Southbound lanes of I-25 at Briargate were closed for several hours due to the crash.

CSP said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the Ford Edge, 34-year-old Terence Morin of Fountain, was uninjured in the crash.

The driver of the Buick, who’s identity has yet to be released, was pronounced dead on scene. Investigators said excessive speed is being considered a factor in the crash.
