Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single-car rollover crash where the driver was killed Tuesday.

The crash happened at 7:30 a.m. on Huerfano County Road 620, around 4.5 miles east of Gardner. CSP said a 2001 Chevy Express was traveling westbound when it went off the right side of the road.

The driver was able to steer left bringing the car back on the road. State Patrol said the driver then over-steered causing the car to rotate, and went off the right side of the road. The car rolled over and the driver was ejected from the vehicle before coming to a stop.

The driver, identified as 56-year-old John Tkaczyk of Gardner, died on scene from fatal injuries. CSP said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash, but inattentive driving is believed to be the cause. The crash remains under investigation.
