Final Gubernatorial debate to be held in Colorado Springs

A final Colorado Gubernatorial debate will be held in Colorado Springs on Thursday, June 21st.

Several organizations around southern Colorado have noted that the candidates for governor have not spent much time in the southern part of the state, so they decided to invite the candidates to southern Colorado for a debate.

"We haven’t seen the candidates much here in Colorado Springs," said Dr. Anthony Young, President of the Denver Rocky Mountain Association of Black Psychologists. "I live in El Paso County and there has been only one debate in southern Colorado, that I knew of."

Other also echoed this sentiment. "Many voters are like me here in Colorado Springs," said Pastor Promise Lee. "I haven’t decided on a the governor’s race. I won’t decide until after this upcoming debate."

The organizations that will host the debate will include, but are not limited to, The El Paso Ministers Union, The Colorado Springs NAACP Branch, Black Women Political Action, The Denver Rocky Mountain Association of Black Psychologists, The Gospel Music Workshop of America – Colorado Springs Chapter, The African American Initiative of Colorado Democrats, Colorado College, CSU – Pueblo and Pikes Peak College Student Unions.

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st, at the Relevant Word Christian Cultural Center, 1040 S. Institute Street.
