Crews douse grass fires early Wednesday morning in southern El Paso County

Early Wednesday morning, fire crews were working to contain two grass fires in southern El Paso County.

The grass fires were near the Ray Nixon Power Plant and may have been started by a lightning strike during the early morning storms.

One fire was only a half acre in size, and the other was a big as four acres.

No homes were threatened by the flames.

Just after 5 a.m., crews had the fires out were mopping up hot spots.
