Just after midnight Wednesday morning, CSPD officers from the Sand Creek division responded to a reported shooting in the 2500 block of Weston Road.
When officers arrived to the area, they located a male inside a garage in the 3000 block of Delta Drive with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower leg.
According to Police, the man said he was trying to shoot a raccoon off a telephone pole, but accidentally shot himself in the lower leg. Police said he was using a revolver handgun.
The man, who was identified as Don Upshaw, was transported to Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police said Upshaw was cited for Prohibited Use of a Weapon.
