A Colorado Springs Police officer on the way home from work late Monday night came upon an injured man in the middle of I-25 near Uintah.

According to police, the man had a possible broken leg from an intentional effort to get hit by an 18-wheeler.

That’s according to witnesses who told officers they saw the man come onto the interstate from the west side, then side-step into the path of the truck before being hit.

Medics also passed on information to officers that the injured man admitted to going into to be injured or worse.

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident.

Officers had to close down all of northbound I-25 for about 40 minutes due to the pedestrian’s actions.
