The U.S. Forest Service reports a small fire is burning about 8 miles north of Florissant.

The Lost Valley Fire was reported around 3:10 p.m. Thursday, and has burned 1/4 of an acre of grass. No structures are threatened at this time, and no evacuations have been ordered.

The fire’s cause is not yet known.

This small fire comes as the Forest Service placed stage one fire restrictions in the Pike and San Isabel National Forests.

The restrictions were put in place due to dry conditions that have persisted through the winter months and into the spring.
