For the first time in school history the Cheyenne Mountain Indians claimed a state title in boys lacrosse.

Coming in as underdogs and facing Dawson School, Cheyenne Mountain had a tall mountain to climb but it was made easier by the return of August Johnson.

The Indians star player had been sidelined with injury for much of the season and many doubted he would be able to play in the state title game at Mile High. Johnson rose to the occasion, scoring two goals in his return including the game winner late in the 4th quarter as the Indians downed Dawson 8-6.

"Oh my gosh, just unbelievable, it’s a movie style ending. They doubted us, everyone always doubts us, just some public high school from Colorado Springs and I don’t know, just unbelievable," said Johnson.
