In an interview with Fox News Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s new lawyer, Rudolph Giuliani, said the president repaid his attorney Michael Cohen the $130,000 Cohene paid porn star Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election.

Cohen claims that money came out of his own pocket, and just last month, the president denied even knowing about the payment.

In a series of lengthy, early morning tweets Thursday, the president said he paid Cohen back through a monthly retainer fee, emphasizing campaign cash was not used.

In a follow-up interview with Fox Thursday morning, Giuliani insisted Cohen kept Mr. Trump in the dark about the deal with Daniels.

"He didn’t know the details of this until we knew the details of it, which was a couple of weeks ago. Maybe not even a couple, maybe ten days ago," said Giuliani.

Daniels claims the $130,000 was hush money for her alleged affair with the president in 2006.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly denied allegations of an affair.
