The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified two victims that were shot and killed in the 300 block of Bergamo Way.

Colorado Springs Police responded to the 4800 block of Pacer Lane on a disturbance call a little after noon on April 21. Officers learned about a possible double shooting on the west side of the city while conducting interviews, according to CSPD.

Later on that night, around 9:20 p.m., CSPD received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bergamo Way and Gold Camp Road. Upon arrival, officers found an adult man and adult woman inside the car with gunshot wounds and no signs of life, police said.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department confirmed both deaths. Colorado Springs Violent Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and was able to make an arrest the following day. 19-year old Nashid Rayon Rivers was arrested on a First Degree Murder charge in connection to the shooting, police said.

The victims have been identified as 21-year old Serena Lee Garcia of Parker, and 20-year old Marcus Howard Denton of Colorado Springs.

Police said their deaths are the eighth and ninth homicide investigations conducted by CSPD this year. That number was 12 at this time last year.

This continues to be an open and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CSPD at (719) 444-7000.
