A man is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after he was shot in the head and left in the middle of the street early Sunday morning.
A woman driving in the area found the man lying in the street as she was pulling into a parking lot at Peterson Blvd. and Space Village Rd. near the Value Inn Motel.
The motel clerk told El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies that after he heard the gunshots, he saw the suspect run into a room with a gun. The motel was immediately evacuated.
Deputies were able to talk 20-year old David Rhoades into coming out of the room and he was taken into custody. Rhoades is now facing attempted murder charges.
