12th traffic related fatality reported in Colorado Springs

Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a two-car crash that resulted in one fatality on April 19.

Officers responded to the reported crash a little before 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Woodmen Road and Lexington Drive. Police said a Toyota Camry was attempting a left hand turn from westbound Woodmen when it was struck by a Subaru traveling eastbound.

The investigation concluded that both cars had a green light. 

Both people in the Toyota were transported to a local hospital. The front passenger, identified as 84-year old Lois Wasserman of Colorado Springs, died of her injuries the following day.

Police said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Speed, drugs and alcohol are not being considered factors in the crash, as this is an ongoing investigation.

Wasserman is the 12th traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs this year, while this time last year that number as at 11.
