The Pueblo community is coming together to help those affected by the Barnett Fire.

Ember Peaslee is organizing relief efforts to help the people who lived in the five homes destroyed by the quick-moving fire that sparked Friday. The fire took everything those families owned, including one man’s cat.

Peaslee is looking to gather necessities like hygiene items, blankets, clothes and food.

"I believe the people in Pueblo are great people, and I know that whenever there’s any kind of catastrophe, Pueblo pulls together.  Peaslee said. "We pull together, and we work together, and we do what needs to get done for people in need."

Investigators are still looking into the fire’s cause, they tell us it could have been sparked by a transformer in the area.

Anyone interested in donating hygiene items should take them to the Iqor Facility at 317 N Main St in Pueblo. Anyone interested in donating non-perishable food items can take them to the Coyote Grille at 5220 Nature Center Rd in Pueblo.
