Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single-car crash that resulted in one fatality on Highway 69.

CSP said the crash happened early Wednesday morning on southbound Hwy 69, four miles south of Westcliffe. State patrol said a Ford Focus was traveling southbound, when the driver didn’t acknowledge a left hand curve causing the car to travel off the ride side of the road.

The car traveled down an embankment and collided with a fence, causing the car to become airborne and roll over four times, CSP said. The driver, identified as 26-year old Peter Kober of Westcliffe, was ejected from the car, and pronounced dead on scene.

State patrol said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time.

Alcohol and excessive speed are being considered factors in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
