Forest Service now confirms fire burning two miles north of Florissant

The U.S. Forest Service said firefighters are assisting Teller County crews with a fire burning about two miles north of Florissant Tuesday afternoon. 

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said the fire is three acres in size and was caused by a downed power line. Deputies said one structure is threatened and firefighters are doing protective action to save the home.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said it is located near Fossil Creek Road and Wildhorn Road.

Deputies tell News 5 no other structures are threatened and there are no other evacuation orders.

Crews are calling it the Fossil Fire.
