Our KOAA News5 Athlete of the Week is Xavier Hill of Pine Creek.
The senior safety can – and has – lined up all over the field for the Eagles (12-1) defense this season, leading the team in tackle and interceptions with six, three of them returned for touchdowns.
"I like to say that I’m a safety but it’s cool to be pulled into play linebacker and I’m really just trying to do whatever it is to be done to help the team," Hill said.
The Pine Creek defense has allowed one touchdown this postseason and Hill is a main reason why Pine Creek is back in the 4A title game.
Eagles play Pueblo South (12-1) in the 4A state title game, Saturday at 11 am at Mile High Stadium. A win Saturday would be the eagles fourth in five years and another ring on the finger for Hill.
"Man….. just thinking about it, the rings are already crazy big and we don’t really need them but words can not describe how awesome that would be."
