PENROSE — Colorado State Patrol said one person was killed and two were injured in a fiery head-on crash early Friday morning on Highway 115.
Troopers said the crash happened at approximately 1:18 a.m. about 6 miles north of Penrose, near the Beaver Creek State Wildlife Area. They said a Chevrolet Suburban traveling northbound collided into a Toyota Tundra that was driving south on the highway.
The driver of the Suburban, who has not yet been identified, died in the crash. The driver and passenger in the Tundra were injured and taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.
At this time alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the crash. The wreck closed the highway for hours Friday morning. It reopened at approximately 6:18 a.m.
