The holidays are here and if you are looking to attend some fun events we've got you covered! The News5 team has come up with a list of events that you should check out in Southern Colorado.
Colorado Springs Festival of Lights Parade:
What: Make sure you stop by Downtown Colorado Springs this Saturday for the 35th annual Festival of Lights Parade.
When: Saturday, December 7
Where: The parade will be on Tejon St. and will start at St. Vrain St. and proceed south to Vermijo Avenue.
Time: The parade kicks off at 5:50 p.m.
More information: The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum will host its annual Festival of Lights Family Fun Day Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The event, featuring holiday craft stations, family-friendly activities, live performances, and history exhibits, has been a holiday tradition at the museum for more than thirty years. Festival of Lights Family Fun Day is free and open to the public.
Parking: There is handicap parking on Bijou and Kiowa on both sides of Tejon and there are five parking structures within one block of the parade route. Do not park at the hooded meters during the parade as you will be towed.
Electric Safari 2019
What: Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the only place in Colorado Springs where you can see over 85 one-of-a-kind light sculptures and enjoy celebrating the season with zoo animals at the same time! This year’s event will celebrate 29 years of holiday cheer, and Santa Claus will be taking holiday wishes each night through December 23.
When: December 6-8, December 13 – 23, December 25 – January 1, 2020. *Electric Safari is NOT open on Christmas Eve, December 24.
Time: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.-Member Early Entry Hour (non-members are allowed to enter at 4:30 p.m. only if accompanied by a Zoo member).
5:30 – 8:30 p.m. with last admission at 7:30 p.m.

A military discount is offered to all active duty, veteran and retired military personnel any day of the year. Bring any of the following to qualify for the discount for you and your dependents living in the same household:
- A valid military / retired military ID
- A copy of your DD214
- Your state driver’s license printed with veteran indicator or military identifier
- Your ID issued by the VA, VFW or American Legion

Winter Wonderland Holiday Market
What: Colorado Farm and Art Market is hosting a winter wonderland holiday market, a European style outdoor shopping adventure that's unlike anything else in town! Shop a great selection of small business vendors, all bringing you the best hand made, unique gifts to choose from that you won't find anywhere else in town. Woodworking, art, pottery, glassworking, baked goods, body care, canned goods, grassfed meats, tea, fabric arts, jewelry, candles, spa care and so much more! Monument Tree Lighting
What: It's a festive event in Limbach Park in Monument. The event begins with holiday performances by local schools and community groups. Mayor Wilson & Trustee Elliott will be raising money for Tri-Lakes Cares with a fruit cake toss! Then join Santa as he lights up Limbach Park at our annual Tree Lighting ceremony. Please bring a canned food item for Tri-Lakes Cares or a new, unwrapped toy for Santa on Patrol.
When: Saturday, December 7
Where: Limbach Park, 151 Front St, in Monument
Time: 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Downtown Holiday Stroll
What: It's one of downtown's most beloved traditions, the 2019 Holiday Stroll! Local store owners are offering extended hours and many will have sales, special offers, and refreshments while you shop. Stroll beautifully lit downtown Colorado Springs enjoy familiar holiday tunes from strolling carolers and musicians.
When: Wednesday, December 11
Where: Downtown Colorado Springs
Time: 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
