SOUTHERN COLORADO — Don't have any plans for the weekend? Here are some things we recommend you check out in Southern Colorado.

2019 Colorado State Fair:
What: From delicious food, rides, concerts and family fun, there is something for everyone to check out at the 2019 Colorado State Fair.
Where: 1001 Beulah Ave. in Pueblo
When: The festivities start on August 23 and end on September 2. The fair is also celebrating 150 years of horse events this year.
Time: Monday-Thursday: 12 p.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Sunday: 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Labor Day: 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Ticket admission cost: Adults (13 and older): $12, Kids (ages 5-12): $6, Children 4 and under are free

The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon
What: The Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent is a racing event that begins at the base of Pikes Peak, in Manitou Springs and climbs over 7,815 feet to the top of the 14,115 foot peak. Since 1956, the event takes place each year in late summer, with the Ascent taking place on Saturday and the round-trip marathon on Sunday.
When: Pikes Peak Ascent - August 24 at 7 a.m.

Royal Gorge Bridge's 90th Celebration
What: America's highest suspension bridge and zip line celebrates its 90th anniversary celebration. Built in 1929, Standing at 955 feet, the Royal Gorge Bridge towers over the Arkansas River with a total length of 1,260 feet, which is just shy of a quarter mile. The bridge was built in 6 months between June and November for a cost of 350,000 dollars. Adjusted for inflation, that would come out to a little over 5.2 million dollars today!

Colorado Springs Comic Con
What: Get ready for the Colorado Springs biggest and best pop culture convention in the Springs. This 3-day event, now in its fourth year, will feature celebrities from all genres of TV, movies and cartoons, some of the best artists in the comic art community, as well as the greatest vendors in the area with those hard-to-find toys, comics, and collectibles.
