It’s opening weekend for the State Fair, but here are a few of the other events going on around town this weekend.

Romp in the Park

In honor of International Animal Day All Breed Rescue and Training will host its 20th Annual Romp in the Park on Saturday. The family and dog friendly event is free and will feature vendors, food trucks, live demonstrations, doggy dancing, contests, face painting, raffles, and more from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Chug Run

There will be a unique family friendly running and brew festival this weekend at PPIR. There will be 1 mile runs on the raceway, professional driver drift rides, go kart rental racing, live music, vendors, micro brews, and family friendly activities. Colorado Springs Comic Con

Comic Con is coming to Colorado Springs this weekend. Friday to Sunday at the Chapel Hills Mall Event Center there will be vendors, cosplay, artists, and guests like Natalia Tena, Rey Mysterio, Billy Boyd, Dog the Bounty Hunter and more. Single day tickets for adults will be $25 to $35 with 3 day passes and VIP passes available. Buy tickets and find more information here.

Dragon Boat Festival

The Colorado Springs International Dragon Boat Festival will feature Chinese culture, sport, food, entertainment, and a full day of boat races this Saturday. Prospect Lake in Memorial Park will have all the fun beginning at 9 am. Spectators are free. Find more information here.
