Today’s Forecast:
Very hot and dry weather is expected across southern Colorado today with critical fire danger. Red Flag Warnings are widespread through the forecast area as stronger daytime winds and low relative humidity kick in for the afternoon. You will notice smoke in and around the mountains today which is from wildfires across the desert southwest.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 93; Low: 57. Hot with high fire danger and stronger daytime winds. Smoke will be thick against the mountains especially in the first half of the day.
PUEBLO: High: 100; Low: 60. Very hot and dry today with a stronger daytime breezy and critical fire danger throughout the entire county. There may be some smoke at times.
CANON CITY: High: 98; Low: Hot and windy in the afternoon with very high fire danger. Smoke will be thicker in and around the mountains in the first half of the day.
WOODLAND PARK: High: 82; Low: 48. Warm and smoky today with elevated fire danger through the afternoon. The smoke and haze will let up slightly in the afternoon.
TRI-LAKES: High: 80s; Low: 50s. Hot with elevated fire danger under low humidity and stronger daytime winds. Smoke will be denser in the first half of the day.
PLAINS: High: 90/100s; Low: 60s. Very hot with high to elevated fire danger today. The winds will be gustier and the humidity will be low in the afternoon, making fire danger critical for most of the plains.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 90s; Low: 60s. High fire danger and hot today with highs warming into the 90s this afternoon. Smoke will be fairly dense through mos of the day, especially west in the mountains.
Extended Outlook:
The forecast is going to stay generally warm this week, but a cold front tonight will keep us much cooler tomorrow and Wednesday compared to today. Storm chances will be back over the weekend with highs returning into the 80s and 90s with more daily storms possible through the weekend.
