Very cold and windy today with more snow in the plains

Today’s Forecast:
We'll see areas of blowing snow mainly out east through the first half of the day today with a brief snow band pushing west into the eastern slopes of the Wets and Sangres, as well as I-25 from Walsenburg to Trinidad. For most of us, the main worry with be wind gusts between 20 to 40 mph and temperatures in the 20s leading to wind chills in the teens and single digits.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 28; Low: 13. Cold and wind are the main two weather impacts for Colorado Springs today and tonight. We could see light flurries today but no accumulation is expected. The winds will keep gusting in the 20 - 35 mph range today and wind chills will remain in the teens to the single digits and even a brief dip in the negatives overnight through early Thursday morning.

PUEBLO: High: 35; Low: 10. Very windy and cold today with a chance for brief flurries and snow showers, especially from lunch to the early afternoon. We won't see any snow accumulation, but wind chills will be a big issue. Wind chill values will stay in the teens and single digits today and tonight.

CANON CITY: High: 33; Low: 13. Windy and cold today with a few stray snowflakes and flurries but with no extra accumulation expected. We'll be colder tonight but with lighter winds.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 17; Low: 6. Windy and very cold today with a low chance for stray flurries later today. We'll see wind chills all day and night stay in the single digits and negatives.

TRI-LAKES: High: 10s; Low: 0-10. Windy and cold today with a low chance for a few stray flurries expected later this afternoon. We'll see wind gusts between 20 to 35 mph today and wind chills will likely stay in the single digits or negatives most of today and tonight. It'll be extremely cold tomorrow morning but with lighter winds.

PLAINS: High: 30s; Low: 10s. Snow will continue falling today, especially from the morning through the early afternoon with strong north winds gusting between 25 to 40 mph. We could easily get low visibility from snow and strong winds could lead to snowdrifts. The winds will relax overnight and the snow will be done this evening.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 20s; Low: 10s. We're going to stay windy along I-25 from Walsenburg to Trinidad today with a chance for a quick-moving but light accumulation snow squall or snow showers in the afternoon. Additional snow accumulations today should stay pretty light.

MOUNTAINS: High: 20s; Low: 0-10. It's going to stay breezy in the southern mountains today and out near towns like Salida and La Veta. There could be some weak snow showers or flurries late today around La Veta, but little to no additional accumulation is expected. Overnight lows will be dangerously cold but with lighter winds.

Extended Outlook:
Thursday is going to start cold, but we'll warm up quickly with dry air and full sunshine. We'll stay breezy tomorrow afternoon but nowhere near as windy as Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll be warmer and dry through the weekend with dry weather lasting well into next week.
