SOUTHERN COLORADO — Tonight’s Forecast:

The Colorado summertime weather pattern has a firm grip on us, allowing for morning sunshine and hot temps, then bringing in afternoon cloud cover, showers & thunderstorms. Sunday brought us an upper level disturbance that was able to give these storms a bit more of a ‘push’ in both direction and growth. That was what allowed them to move down from the mountain and onto the I-25 corridor. Tonight, scattered showers and T’Storms will die off after sunset, leaving us with partly to mostly cloudy skies and overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Monday will be another repeat forecast of morning sunshine, hot temps, and afternoon clouds and thunderstorms. However, we won’t have as much moisture in the atmosphere, nor will we have an upper level disturbance to move the storms once they’ve developed. Therefore, the best chances will remain in the mountains with just an isolated chance along I-25. Highs on Monday will once again reach to near 90 in the Springs with mid to upper 90s for Pueblo and near 100 for the Plains.

COLORADO SPRINGS: Low: 58, High: 89. Showers and Thunderstorms early tonight, then becoming partly cloudy with lows in the upper 50s. Morning sunshine on Monday with isolated afternoon showers and storms and highs near 90.

PUEBLO: Low: 62, High: 95. Isolated showers and storms early tonight, then becoming mostly clear with lows in the 60s. Mostly sunny on Monday morning with afternoon clouds and a slight chance for an isolated thunderstorm. Highs in the mid-90s.

CANON CITY: Low: 64, High: 94. Scattered showers and thunderstorms early, then becoming partly cloudy with lows in the 60s. Partly cloudy on Monday morning with developing showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and highs in the mid-90s.

WOODLAND PARK: Low: 53, High: 81. Scattered showers and storms early tonight, then becoming partly cloudy with lows in the 50s. Partly cloudy to start Monday with scattered afternoon showers and storms and highs in the low 80s.

TRI-LAKES: Low: 50s, High: 80s. Showers and Thunderstorms early tonight, then becoming partly cloudy with lows in the 50s. Morning sunshine on Monday with isolated afternoon showers and storms and highs in the 80s.

PLAINS: Low: 60s, High: 100s. Mostly clear tonight with lows in the mid 60s. Mostly sunny and HOT on Monday as afternoon temperatures will reach 100 in some spots. Stay cool and hydrate!

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: Low: 60s, High: 90s. Mostly clear tonight with showers and T’storms ending early and lows near 60. Partly cloudy to start Sunday with increasing clouds and chances for late day showers and storms. Highs in the lower 90s.

Extended Outlook:
By Tuesday, drier air will work into the picture, bringing down out chances for afternoon thunderstorm development. They will still be possible in the mountains for both Tuesday and Wednesday, but by Thursday, nearly all of Southern Colorado will be baking in the heat. Without cloud and thunderstorm development to help shade us from the hot temps, areas such as Pueblo will top off in the low triple-digits (100’s). It will for sure be the hottest period of the year yet, so take precautions and make sure to stay cool and hydrated!
