Southern Colorado fire danger rises late this week

Tonight's Forecast: Mostly cloudy skies will continue through early this evening, with a few light rain showers over Las Animas County. We should see decreasing clouds late tonight, with chilly overnight temperatures on tap for Southern Colorado.

COLORADO SPRINGS: Low: 38; High: 69. Sunny, breezy and a little warmer on Wednesday. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 60s.

PUEBLO: Low: 39; High: 77. Sunny skies early, with increasing clouds and breezes for the afternoon hours. Highs will be pleasant, warming into the upper 70s.

CANON CITY: Low: 41; High: 75. Mostly sunny and mild on Wednesday, with highs warming comfortably into the mid 70s.

WOODLAND PARK: Low: 32; High: 63. Sunshine early will give way to a partly to mostly cloudy afternoon. We'll stay dry tomorrow, with highs warming into the 60s.

TRI-LAKES: Low: 30s; High: 60s. Mostly sunny skies on Wednesday, with strong southerly breezes. Highs will rise into the 60s for the daytime hours.

PLAINS: Low: 30s/40s; High: 70s. Wednesday's weather will be generally sunny, with strong afternoon breezes. Highs will warm into the 70s.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: Low: 30s/40s; High: 70s. Another gorgeous day ahead on Wednesday. Sunshine early, with a few clouds by the afternoon, and highs in the 70s.

Extended Outlook: Thursday will be warm, dry and windy. Critical fire weather conditions are likely to develop across most of Southern Colorado, with the current Fire Weather Watches likely becoming Red Flag Warnings. A sharp cold front arrives late Thursday, which will bring in a good amount of cooling by Friday. Dry skies are expected through Saturday, with afternoon showers possible from Sunday into early next week.
