Snow diminishing through the day with dangerously cold temperatures overnight

Today’s Forecast:
Snow will continue to diminish through the early morning hours today, but slick and snow packed roads will remain long after the snow stops. Temperatures will stay at or below freezing for most of the day today, meaning that any roads that are not cleared and treated with stay snow and ice covered through the overnight hours. Light afternoon snow across the high terrain areas is possible, but with additional accumulations staying below 3 inches.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 28; Low: 4. Cloudy and cold with light winds and a few flurries possible in the afternoon. Any additional accumulating snow would likely occur over the mountains and foothills later today.

PUEBLO: High: 32; Low: 0. Cloudy and cold with calm winds and dry skies after the morning flurries stop. No additional snow is expected through Pueblo, but the Wet Mountains could see afternoon light snow.

CANON CITY: High: 29; Low: 6. Cloudy and cold today with light winds and a few afternoon flurries possible. Any additional snow today will likely be heavier in the mountains outside of town.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 24; Low: -1. Cloudy and cold today with light winds and additional light snow or flurries possible in the afternoon. Any extra snowfall later today should stay at or below 2 inches.

TRI-LAKES: High: 20s; Low: >10. Cloudy and cold today with light winds and additional light snow to flurries in the afternoon. Any additional snowfall this afternoon should stay at or below an inch.

PLAINS: High: 30s; Low: >10. Cloudy and cold today with dry skies through the afternoon and light winds.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 20s; Low: >10. Cloudy and cold today with light winds and a few flurries possible through the afternoon. More light snow will likely fall in the mountains west of Walsenburg and Trinidad this afternoon, with mountain totals staying around 1 to 3 inches.

Extended Outlook:
Dangerously cold air arrives tonight with widespread temperatures in the single digits or below zero through the region. It'll be so cold tonight that many roads will refreeze, leading to continued slick roads on Tuesday morning. The rest of the week will be dry with temperatures warming into the 50s and then the 60s by the weekend.
