Today’s Forecast:
Record setting temperatures are possible across southern Colorado later today, with a few thunderstorms trying to come out of the mountains. Record heat will be felt strongest from the late morning through the mid afternoon, with of of the day cloud cover coming out of the mountains to help cool everyone off. Storms are most likely over the mountains today, but isolated storms can't be ruled out for areas like Colorado Springs and Canon City.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 93; Low - 61. Record temps possible this afternoon with the current record sitting at 93 degrees. Late day and early evening thunderstorms are possible, but dry air will try and make it so just gusty winds and lightning fall out of thunderstorms. The mountains west of town will probably see most of the rain later today.

PUEBLO: High - 100; Low - 64. Record temperatures are possible this afternoon with the current record sitting at 101 degrees. It's more likely Pueblo will stay dry than get wet, but current modeling is suggesting an isolated storm could run through or near town early this evening.

CANON CITY: High - 98; Low - 65. Very hot air is expected this afternoon with a bit more of an afternoon breeze. Late day and early evening thunderstorms are possible, but dry air will try and make it so just gusty winds and lightning fall out of thunderstorms. The mountains around town will probably see most of the rain later today.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 82; Low - 52. Warm with thunderstorms through the late afternoon and early evening. No severe weather is expected but there could be plenty of lightning.

TRI-LAKES: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Very warm today with thunderstorms likely from the end of the day through the early evening. Any storms that roll through the Tri-Lakes area will likely stay non severe, but there could be plenty of lightning and even small hail in the biggest storms.

PLAINS: High - 90/100s; Low - 60s. Very hot across the plains this afternoon with widespread triple digit highs expected in and around highway 50 east of Pueblo. We should stay dry in the plains today and tonight, just drink plenty of water if you're working outside.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Hot this afternoon with mostly dry skies expected from the afternoon to the evening hours. If we were to see an isolated storm by the end of the day, it would be against the Raton Mesa or southern mountains west of Trinidad.

Extended Outlook:
A cold front overnight will push temperatures back into the 80s and 90s east of the mountains with storms expected Friday afternoon and evening. The weekend looks cooler with highs staying in the 80s and 90s with rain chances on both Saturday and Sunday. Next week looks dry on Monday and Tuesday.
