Record heat likely today with cooler and wetter weather into the weekend

Today’s Forecast:
If you love Summer heat, today is your day! Sunshine and dry air are going to mix together to quickly propel temperatures well into the 90s and triple digits across southern Colorado. We'll stay dry through the afternoon and overnight hours with very warm air lingering into Saturday morning. Dehydration is going to be a real concern if you're working or hiking outside today without extra water, and be sure to pack your sunscreen.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 98; Low - 66. Very hot, sunny and dry with breezy winds through the afternoon.

PUEBLO: High - 105; Low - 67. Incredibly hot, sunny and dry with breezy winds through the afternoon.

CANON CITY: High - 102; Low - 69. Very hot, sunny and dry with light winds through the afternoon.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 88; Low - 56. Hot, sunny and dry with just a few stray clouds into the afternoon.

TRI-LAKES: High - 90s; Low - 50s. Hot, sunny and dry with breezy winds through the afternoon.

PLAINS: High - 100s; Low - 60s. Incredibly hot, sunny and dry with breezy winds through the afternoon.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 90/100s; Low - 60s. Very hot, sunny and dry with breezy winds through the afternoon.

Extended Outlook:
A cold front pushes cooler air into the forecast overnight tonight with a ten degree temperature drop for the highs on Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms will return Saturday afternoon, first over the mountains, and then east to the I-25 corridor and plains through the afternoon and evening. Much cooler air is trying to come down by Sunday and Monday with highs in the Pikes Peak Region dropping into the 70s! Heavier rain is possible on both Sunday and Monday, but we'll see less rain in daily thunderstorms through the middle of next week.
