Tonight’s Forecast:

We’ve been talking about it for the past few days and will continue to talk about it for the next few days – the large area of high pressure that is dominating the Southwestern corner of the United States. As it meanders around, it brings and takes away moisture and chances for thunderstorms. Today it retrograded back towards Colorado, helping to dry us out and keep the thunderstorms confined primarily to the mountains.

Tonight, skies will be mostly clear, but the chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm rolling off the mountains will into the evening hours. Clouds will clear out by midnight and temperatures will roll back into the upper 50s and lower 60s once again. Tuesday will be another hot one for I-25 and the Eastern Plains with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and even upper 90s for the far Eastern Plains. Expect to see a few clouds passing through which might contain a brief shower or clap of thunder, but the majority of the activity will stay confined to the mountains.

Extended Outlook:
Wednesday looks to be a transitional day of sorts. The dominant area of high pressure will move to Texas, breaking down the dominating heat and allowing some more energy and moisture to return to Colorado. Rain chances will ensue for late Wednesday with the biggest chance being Thursday and Friday. Next weekend looks to bring a few isolated chances, but at this time, nothing to cancel your plans over.
