Today’s Forecast:

DMA Snowfall Today
Snow that could accumulation today only

We will have tricky commutes today from black ice and deceptively slick roads both this morning and then again today. We didn't see much snow overnight, but there was just enough to give areas in El Paso county and our mountains west of I-25 just enough ice and slush to make it slick.

There will be more light snow today, but generally only a half-inch to 2 inches more for areas along and west of I-25 (see map above). Overnight we'll be dry but very cold with lows in the teens and more areas of ice developing where the snow falls today.

Saturday Snow:

DMA Snow Accumulation
Forecast snowfall from the end of Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning.

Heavier snow will fall Saturday from the end of the day through the overnight hours. The map above shows the snow totals from whatever falls today through Saturday night (most of that snow will fall Saturday night). It's enough to make overnight drives very slick and dangerous, and early morning drives Sunday slick.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 31; Low: 15. Cold and cloudy today with periods of light snow and flurries until we dry out overnight. There could be a bigger punch of snow at the end of the day, and we could see another 0.5 to 1.5 inches of accumulation.

PUEBLO: High: 35; Low: 16. Cold and overcast with light snow showers and flurries possible today, but less than an inch of new snow accumulation is expected.

CANON CITY: High: 34; Low: 17. Cold and cloudy with light snow showers and flurries. Any additional snow accumulation today should stay at or below one inch.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 25; Low: 10. Cold and cloudy with light snow possible off and on today. There could be a heavier burst of snow at the end of the day, but new snow accumulations should stay between 1 to 2 inches.

TRI-LAKES: High: 20s; Low: <10. Cold and cloudy today with light snow showers and flurries possible through the day. There could be a second punch of snow in the afternoon that drops another 1 to 2 inches.

PLAINS: High: 30s; Low: 10s. Cold, breezy, and slick today from light snow last night. There could be light snow showers to flurries off and on today, but there likely won't be much more snow accumulation for those east of I-25.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 30s; Low: 10s. Cold and windy at times with overcast skies. There will be more periods of light snow and flurries today, but accumulation from Walsenburg to Trindad should stay limited to an inch or less.

MOUNTAINS: High: 30s; Low: 10s. We'll more light snow through the Wet and Sangre De Cristo mountains today, as well as the surrounding towns like Salida, La Veta, and Rye. Snow could come down heavy at times, but new accumulations should stay between 1 to 2 inches.

Extended Outlook:
Remember from above in this story that the next chance for snow comes Saturday late in the day through early Sunday morning. Sunday will be dry most of the day but cold through the afternoon. We could see snow showers Monday night, but that chance keeps looking weaker through time. Most of next week is dry but chilly.
