Hot and dry weather takes over today, so drink lots of water! A few stray thunderstorms may develop along and south of highway 50 in the plains today, but dry air will likely prevent any rain from actually hitting the ground. Highs will soar into the 90s east of the mountains with plenty of warmth in the mountains themselves. Tonight, dry air will allow temperatures to fall into the mid to upper 50s by Friday morning.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 90; Low - 56. Hot and muggy with isolated showers and storms this afternoon that are more likely to push out gusty winds and lightning instead of rain. That being said, not a bad idea to bring an umbrella to work to be safe.

CANON CITY: High - 98; Low - 62. Hot and muggy with isolated showers and storms this afternoon that are more likely to push out gusty winds and lightning instead of rain. That being said, not a bad idea to bring an umbrella to work to be safe.

PLAINS: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Dry and muggy in the afternoon with strong to severe storms possible in the afternoon. Storms are most likely along and north of highway 50 late today and this evening with heavy rain, lightning, strong winds, and even an isolated tornado, especially near Kiowa County.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 90s; Low - 50s. Hot and muggy with isolated showers and storms this afternoon that are more likely to push out gusty winds and lightning instead of rain. That being said, not a bad idea to bring an umbrella to work to be safe.
