Today’s Forecast:
Tons of heat across the region today with plenty of fire danger across the region. The winds will increase this afternoon and we will likely see spotty thunderstorms in the southern mountains and plains. Fire danger remains critical through Wednesday, so if you see smoke in an area without an existing fire, call it in immediately.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 90s; Low: 50s. Hot with very high fire danger as the winds increase this afternoon and gust in the 20 mph range. Thunderstorms could roll off the mountains or form overhead, especially around Trinidad, but most storms will not do anything until they move farther east into the plains.

Extended Outlook:
Wednesday is going to be a near duplicate today with continued high fire danger and strong winds in the afternoon. we'll see more daytime thunderstorms over the mountains Wednesday, but mostly dry skies across the plains. A strong cold front Wednesday night will push highs on Thursday down around 10 to 15 degrees. Daytime storms are possible from Thursday through Saturday, but Friday is the best day for widespread and heavier rain.
