High fire danger today with warmer than average temperatures

Today’s Forecast:
Southern Colorado is under a weather alert today due to strong daytime winds in the mountains and valleys along with high fire danger in the plains.

The strongest winds today will be in the Sangre De Cristos, Wet Mountains, and the Wet Mountain Valley. We could get gusts between 30 to 50 mph at the strongest in those areas. Areas along and east of I-25 could see gusts between 20 to 30 mph, maybe a touch higher in a few areas south of Pueblo. Overnight we'll see a lighter breeze with lows in the 40s.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 74; Low: 43. Warm and windy today with the strongest gusts between 20 to 30 mph.

PUEBLO: High: 78; Low: 39. Very warm and windy at times with wind gusts between 20 to 30 mph.

CANON CITY: High: 75; Low: 48. Warm and very windy at times with gusts between 25 to 35 mph.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 65; Low: 38. Mild and really windy at times today with gusts between 30 to 40 mph.

TRI-LAKES: High: 60s; Low: 30s. Mild and very windy at times with wind gusts between 25 to 35 mph.

PLAINS: High: 70/80s; Low: 40s. Very warm and windy at times with gusts between 20 to 30 mph.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 70s; Low: 40s. Warm and very windy today, especially out west in and around La Veta Pass. Gusts could be between 30 to 50 mph.

MOUNTAINS: High: 60s; Low: 40s. Mild and very windy with gusts between 30 to 50 mph in the Sangres, Wet Mountains, and Wet Mountain Valley. Winds near Salida and Monarch Pass will be similarly as strong.

Extended Outlook:
Tomorrow will be breezy and cooler with highs in the 60s and 70s. Friday will be even cooler and still breezy with highs in the 50s. Saturday looks dry other than scattered light rain to snow showers now mostly west of I-25 in the mountains.
