Today’s Forecast:
Cooler, dry and windy today across southern Colorado with Red Flag Warnings in and along the mountains west of I-25, including El Paso and western Las Animas counties. The winds will be stronger in the afternoon with temperatures around 10 to 15 degrees cooler than what we saw yesterday. Snow will arrive to the mountains overnight making any drives out west along I-70 dangerous through Sunday morning, with a few flurries making it to Teller County.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 62; Low - 40. Crisp and windy today, especially in the afternoon with high fire danger.
PUEBLO: High - 69; Low - 37. Mild and breezy through the afternoon with a few strong gusts by the end of the day and elevated fire danger.
CANON CITY: High - 67; Low - 43. Mild and windy today with high fire danger and low air quality from Decker Fire Smoke.
WOODLAND PARK: High - 53; Low - 26. Chilly and windy today with high fire danger through the afternoon. Snow will show up late tonight into daybreak Sunday morning. Totals should stay at or under 1".
TRI-LAKES: High - 50s; Low - 30s. Chilly and windy today with high fire danger through the afternoon.
PLAINS: High - 60/70s; Low - 30s. Warm and breezy through the afternoon with generally low fire danger and plenty of sunshine.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 60s; Low - 40s. Mild and very windy this afternoon with very high fire danger in and just out of the mountains. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph in the afternoon out of the south.
Extended Outlook:
Snow starts falling in the central and northern mountains late tonight and continues to fall through Sunday afternoon. The roads will be slick out west early Sunday morning, and probably stay slick through the mid afternoon while plows work to keep them clear. The winds will be very strong Sunday, especially for the first half of the day, with temperatures around 5 to 10 degrees cooler than what we'll see today. Monday looks dry and chilly with warmer air by Tuesday. The next chance for heavy, widespread snow looks to be on Thursday of next week.
