Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms today

Today’s Forecast:
Warm and humid air will work together with wind shear to produce strong to severe thunderstorms across southern Colorado. Heavy rain from Thursday will make flooding the main concern from storms later today, but large hail and even an isolated tornado can't be ruled out. Storms will die off into the evening hours across the plains with dry skies for Saturday morning.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 84; Low - 59. Warm and humid today with showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening hours. Storms will likely be strong to severe in and around town, with heavy rain and flooding as the primary threats. Dime to quarter size hail is possible in storms later today with an isolated tornado possible on the north and east side of town closer to Black Forest, Falcon and Calhan.

PUEBLO: High - 90; Low - 63. Hot and humid today with showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and early this evening. While most modeling steers storms right around Pueblo later today, any rain that moves through town would be very heavy with localized flooding possible. Storms could pack hail and strong winds.

CANON CITY: High - 89; Low - 66. Warm and muggy with showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the early evening. Storms could be strong today with heavy rain and flooding as the biggest concerns. Small to moderate hail is also possible, but flooding remains the top worry.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 75; Low - 53. Warm and muggy today with showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Limited rain has slightly lowered flooding concerns, but isolated heavy rains, lightning, and small hail are all possible.

TRI-LAKES: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Warm and humid today with showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening hours. Storms will likely be strong to severe in and around town, with heavy rain and flooding as the primary threats. Dime to quarter size hail is possible in storms later today with an isolated tornado possible east of the Tri Lakes area closer to Black Forest and out to Calhan. If a warning is issued, take it seriously and take cover.

PLAINS: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Hot and humid with showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the overnight hours. Storms will move through the plains east of Walsenburg and Trinidad, as well as El Paso County. The heaviest rain will fall south of highway 50 wtih flash flooding and large hail as the biggest concerns. Severe storms are also possible in Lincoln, northern Crowley, and Kiowa Counties, with an isolated tornado possible as storms move out of El Paso County.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Warm and humid today with showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening hours. Heavy rain, lightning, and large hail are the main storm threats today, with rain becoming even heavier and more widespread as it moves east away from I-25 into the plains east of Walsenburg and Trinidad.

Extended Outlook:
Strong to possibly severe storms are in the forecast through Sunday with heavy rain and flooding as the continued main issue. Temperatures will stay within a couple degrees of what we see today through Sunday. Early next week a few more storms come out of the mountains, but hot and dry air attempts to push back into the region by Wednesday and Thursday.
