Today’s Forecast:
Today is going to start nice and then end wet as showers and a few thunderstorms push out of the mountains and into the forecast area. We’ll see dry and clear skies from the morning to lunchtime, but by the afternoon, a few showers will start popping over the mountains. Showers will slide off the mountains and into the I-25 corridor through the late afternoon and evening hours, with a few rumbles of thunder and some lightning possible. Hail is not expected from any showers or storms today, but light snow in the mountains, especially around Teller county, is possible through the evening. Any snow that falls tonight would come with little to no accumulation for elevations below 10,000 feet.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 56; Low – 34. Mostly cloudy and mild with scattered showers developing in the mid-afternoon and lasting off and on through the evening, with an isolated thunderstorm possible before 8 pm.

PUEBLO: High – 63; Low – 38.  Partly sunny and warm today with isolated showers and even a stray thunderstorm possible at the end of the day (after 5 pm) through the evening hours. No hail is expected.

CANON CITY: High – 61; Low – 38. Mostly cloudy and mild with showers and a stray thunderstorm possible from the mid-afternoon through the evening hours, with some snow in northern Fremont County after 8 pm tonight.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 48; Low – 29. Mostly cloudy and cool with scattered showers from the afternoon to the early evening, and then a change to snow after 7 pm tonight. Even if the snow comes down heavy, actual accumulation will be under 1 inch for most of Teller County.

TRI-LAKES: High – 40s; Low – 30s. Mostly cloudy and cool with scattered showers from the mid-afternoon off and on through the evening. A stray rumble of thunder could come with rain later today, and even a mix of rain and snow this evening, although that chance remains low.

PLAINS: High – 60s; Low – 30s. Mostly dry today and warm with only a few stray showers possible east of El Paso and Pueblo counties anytime after 6 pm tonight. A rumble of thunder is possible through the evening.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 60s; Low – 30s. Partly sunny and warm today with light and scattered showers, even a few thunderstorms, late today but mainly this evening.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
Widespread rain and thunderstorms are back in the forecast for Wednesday afternoon into the evening hours, with rain changing to snow in the mountains Wednesday night. Severe weather is possible on Wednesday through the eastern edge of the viewing area, mainly out in the Kansas border. While small hail, mainly pea-sized, could fall in the Pikes Peak region, it’s still unlikely with how cool we’ll be in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday look dry but thunderstorms once again return by Saturday.
