Summary: A quiet night tonight, and the first half of Saturday. The computer models we rely upon for much of our info still has a little band of light rain/snow passing through, mainly east of El Paso/Pueblo Counties, Saturday afternoon. That, along with winds before and after it, really is the only hint of an arctic front coming through, dropping those temps way downtown, and setting us up in advance of a developing, complex storm system, poised to arrive Sunday night…and linger through at least half of Tuesday.

Close to average, but going down from here!It is worth reminding you, it is unwise for us to “guess” at snow amounts, more than 2 days away. Yes, things do change, but we have already seen several times this winter, even without big changes from what was anticipated, how even across town (Springs, twice) or across the Palmer Divide, there can be a wide range of amounts. On top of that, the computer simulations we use, do not specify rain or snow amounts, beyond 48 hours, for the very reason that a small change with the storm while it is in Idaho, can have a profound difference in the forecast, when it arrives here.

EVEN IF the storm doesn’t turn out to be intense, the prolonged nature of it would lead us to believe in a significant accumulation out of this…and a messy Monday (President’s Day) and Tuesday.

COLORADO SPRINGS:  Low: 24, High: 46.  Clear tonight. Saturday, morning sun, brief PM shower? Windy PM

PUEBLO:  Low: 25, High: 51.  Clear tonight. Saturday, bright morning, partly sunny & breezy PM.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:  Most of Sunday will be quiet, and colder! But Sunday night, snow sets in either side of Midnight, and all bets are off…all the way through Tuesday afternoon. Best guestimates right now are, periods of light & moderate snow, and enough to shovel, maybe more than once!
