Today’s Forecast:
There are no wind or fire advisories in effect through southern Colorado, but fire and wind will be the biggest stories of the day. A strong high pressure system to the west will be butting into a low pressure system east of Colorado, and that means, we’re going to get windy! Expect gusts in the mountains and down through the lower elevations to range from the 30 to 50 mph from the morning through the mid afternoon. Highs will actually be pretty mild today with a good amount of sunshine and the winds providing a down slope, warming effect.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 54; Low – 23. Partly cloudy and mild with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 40 to 50 mph. Light flurries and sprinkles will fall through midday.

PUEBLO: High – 59; Low – 20. Mostly sunny and warm with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 45 to 55 mph.

CANON CITY: High – 57; Low – 25. Partly cloudy and mild with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 40 to 50 mph. Light flurries are expected in western Fremont county through midday.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 38; Low – 17. Partly cloudy and mild with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 20 to 40 mph. Light snow and flurries will fall through midday.

TRI-LAKES: High – 40s; Low – 10s. Partly cloudy and mild with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 30 to 40 mph.

PLAINS: High – 60s; Low – 20s. Mostly sunny and warm with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 35 to 55 mph.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 50s; Low – 20s. Mostly sunny and warm with wind gusts, especially in the early afternoon, blowing between 30 to 40 mph.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
The winds will start dying down late today and just become a light breeze tonight, but that’s when the cold air really settles back in. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50 tomorrow but don’t worry, because 60s and even a 70 or two are back for Friday! If you’re hoping for a white Christmas… keep hoping. There is a small chance for light snow Saturday night, but it’s more likely we’ll just seeing very light snow up on the Palmer Divide.
