Today’s Forecast:
We have a battle in the atmosphere taking shape as cool, stable air battles up slope flow. The up slope winds this afternoon will try and bring rain and thunderstorms out of the mountains and into the i-25 corridor. Unfortunately, cool and stable rain is going to try and squash the chance for any rain this afternoon. With that being said here’s the most likely scenario today. Most rain this afternoon will be over the mountains. The I-25 corridor will likely stay dry from the late morning through the early afternoon but rain becomes more likely in the Pikes Peak area by the end of the afternoon and especially the early evening.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 69; Low – 51. Scattered light showers in the morning and then dry through the early afternoon. Rain once again looks possible from the late afternoon through the early evening but the heaviest rain will probably stay over the mountains.

PUEBLO: High – 75; Low – 56. Quick isolated showers are possible this morning with a mainly dry afternoon. If we do see rain again over Pueblo the chance is best early this evening.

CANON CITY: High – 73; Low – 53. Scattered showers this morning but drier through the late morning and early afternoon. More scattered showers are possible late today through the early evening.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 64; Low – 45. We can’t rule out an isolated shower this morning over Woodland Park but rain chances seem best in the afternoon through the early evening. Heavy rain is a possibility out of a few of these storms.

TRI-LAKES: High – 60s; Low – 40s. A couple isolated showers are possible this morning but rain looks much more likely in the late afternoon through the early evening. A couple heavy showers are possible.

PLAINS: High – 70s; Low – 50s. Mainly dry today but very scattered late morning and afternoon showers are possible. It’s likely we’ll just stay dry and cool under very stable air.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 60s; Low – 50s. Scattered showers are possible through the morning hours with additional rain coming out of the mountains through the late day and early evening.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER:
We’ll dry out tonight and start Thursday crisp and fairly cloudy. Temperatures will stay cool again tomorrow but we’ll bring back a better chance for heavy, wide spread rain Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. Friday looks much drier in the afternoon with warmer and dry weather taking over for the weekend.
