Today’s Forecast:
Cloud cover will be much heavier today with rain chances coming back to the afternoon today through the whole holiday weekend. Dry air at the ground will pose a large problem for rain today, a lot of showers that fall will evaporate before the even hit the ground. Regardless, we should still plan on rain from the afternoon through the evening hours starting over the mountains and pushing east to the plains. Lightning and gusty winds will be the biggest threats from rain today.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 87; Low – 56. Cloudy but warm today with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Any rain that falls should stay light but we’ll have to watch for lightning and gusty winds.
PUEBLO: High – 93; Low – 58. Cloudy and very warm today with only an small chance for an isolated shower or two this afternoon.
CANON CITY: High – 91; Low – 61. Cloudy and warm with a quick, spotty chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm.
WOODLAND PARK: High – 79; Low – 48. Cloudy and warm today with afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Rain would be light to moderate but there could be a lot of lightning.
TRI-LAKES: High – 70s; Low – 40s. Cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Lightning and gusty winds would be the thing to watch for over heavy rain.
PLAINS: High – 90s; Low – 60s. Cloudy but still very hot across the plains with spotty showers and thunderstorms possible late today through the early evening hours.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 80s; Low – 50s. Hot and cloudy with a few scattered and isolated showers and thunderstorms, most of which will stay to the mountains west of I-25.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER:
Labor Day weekend stays cloudy and cool with daily afternoon rain chances. Saturday has the best chance for more widespread light rain, but we’re not expecting many downpours. Next week will stay cloudy and cool with smaller but continued daily afternoon thunderstorm chances.
