Today’s Forecast:
Hot again today but we do start moving rain back into the forecast! The two best areas for rain are the southeast mountains and east to the plains. A few showers and thunderstorms may get lifted between 4 to 6pm up into El Paso and Teller county but the chances for that look pretty low. Flooding concerns are high today across the Spring burn scar and even the Junkins burn scar as it won’t take very much rain to get debris flowing. It’ll be hot again today with highs warming up to the upper 80s in the Springs and upper 90s for Pueblo. We’ll dry out tonight and temperatures will fall back to the lower 60s.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 89; Low – 60. Mainly hot and dry today but an isolated shower or thunderstorm could work through the city between 4 to 6pm.
PUEBLO: High – 97; Low – 63. Mainly hot and dry across the city. Thunderstorms chances are greater in eastern Pueblo county through the afternoon with only a small chance one or two could wander into the city of Pueblo.
CANON CITY: High – 95; Low – 65. Hot and dry today with lots of sunshine turning into some afternoon clouds.
WOODLAND PARK: High – 82; Low – 52. Mainly warm and dry but there’s a small chance an isolated thunderstorm or two could move through the town between 5 to 7pm.
TRI-LAKES: High – 80s; Low – 50s. Chances are best you’ll stay dry today but it still will be warm through the afternoon.
PLAINS: High – 90s; Low – 50s/60s. Showers and thunderstorms in place early this morning will fade and then reappear through the afternoon. Lightning and a few gusty winds are the main concern from storms.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 90s; Low – 60s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible but the biggest concern will be areas around the Spring fire where flash flooding is a near guarantee if storms form over the burn scar.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER:
Monsoon moisture makes a return Thursday… and it sticks around for awhile! We’ll see storms best over the mountains Thursday but nearly all model guidance slowly seers the moisture into the I-25 corridor and plains through the afternoon. Friday we’ll probably see heavier rain through southern Colorado as we bring in better moisture. Saturday looks drier compared to Thursday and Friday but we still keep chances for rain in the forecast. Monsoon moisture keeps the forecast wet from Sunday through the middle of next week!
