Today’s Forecast:
The forecast today is pretty simple: HOT. A ridge has forced warm air into Colorado and it’s not leaving the state till the end of the week. Under full sunshine the lower elevations, and even the upper, will see big time warmth with highs mainly in the 90s and 100s. There is a small chance for a few pop up thunderstorms in the mountains of the Pikes Peak region but with how dry the air is, gusty thunderstorm wind would be more likely than rain. Tonight we’ll be dry but a few storms may pop over the Palmer Divide and then move northeast through the state.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 96; Low – 61. Hot and dry but we could see some gusty winds if any storms pop over the mountains west of the city.

PUEBLO: High – 104; Low – 63. Very hot and dry with only a light breeze through the afternoon. Dry and warm tonight.

CANON CITY: High – 102; Low – 66. Very hot and dry today with calm winds through the afternoon. Dry and warm tonight.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 87; Low – 55. Warm and mainly dry but a few mountain storms are possible. Wind would be more likely from storms than rain.

TRI-LAKES: High – 90s; Low – 50s. Hot and mainly dry but late today or early this evening a few storms may develop east along the Palmer Divide.

PLAINS: High – 100s; Low – 60s. Extremely hot today with only a light breeze in the afternoon and strong sunshine all day.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 90s/100s; Low – 60s. Very hot and dry today with a light afternoon breeze and some cloud cover at the end of the day.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER
Temperatures should peak tomorrow with record or near record breaking temperatures expected from Springs to Pueblo. A weak front will knock a few degrees off temperatures for Friday but the better cool down seems to work through the area Saturday into Sunday. We might see a few showers and thunderstorms in the I-25 corridor this weekend with a few more small chances for rain returning next week.
