Tonight’s Forecast:
The pressure systems and their locations have barely changed in a day, so the players are still the same. But we add one new player to the game. The "lee-side trough", that frequently forms in warm months over the mountain peaks or just to their east. This becomes a focal point for air to rise, condense, form scattered storms, that then drift east as they grow into the jet stream, which pulls them towards Kansas towards evening…before dying out with sun setting (fuel dying). That’s your Friday story, and the storm chances are for the Pike’s Peak region, Palmer Divide, and especially east of El Paso County, afternoon only.

Beyond that, the energy goes away for Saturday, but a storm I’ve been tracking for 5 days, arrives Sunday. Forecast models are consistently showing it will bring a bunch of energy to the equation, but the air will be very dry, so the question becomes, is there enough energy to overcome the moisture deficit? I think maybe so, north of Pueblo, but not so much south. It is also possible we are looking at dry storms, bringing wind and lightning, but very little rain reaching the ground. That would not be helpful in any way, especially regarding fire danger. We shall see.

COLORADO SPRINGS: Low – 55, High – 83. Becoming clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, PM storm possible, especially east.

PUEBLO: Low – 60, High – 91. Clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, partly sunny afternoon.

CANON CITY: Low – 59, High – 89. Clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, partly sunny afternoon.

WOODLAND PARK: Low – 47, High – 78. Becoming clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, Afternoon storm possible.

TRI-LAKES: Low – 52, High – 83. Becoming clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, PM storm possible.

PLAINS: Low – 62, High – 95. Clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, partly sunny afternoon. Chance for a PM storm or two.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: Low – 58, High – 89. Becoming clear tonight with a light wind. Sunny Friday morning, PM storm possible, especially east.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK: hasn’t changed. Saturday, bright, warm, dry. Sunday, decent chance for a storm or two, particularly north of Pueblo.
