Today’s Forecast:
Colorado Springs and especially Fountain had a loud and stormy night with hail ranging from quarter to baseball in size falling through the area. We’ll be dry this morning but later today and tonight severe storms are once again possible. Warm and humid air will remain in place today fro the morning through the afternoon with highs back in the mid 80s for the Springs and lower 90s in Pueblo. Storms look to start near Pueblo and down south through Huerfano and Las Animas counties around 2 to 3pm. Storms look to spark in El Paso county around 4pm but a second wave of storms could kick up again around the Springs sometime between 7 to 9pm. Storms that start on the I-25 corridor will move east in the plains where they will either stay strong or grow stronger.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 67; Low – 33. Storms look to develop especially north and east of the city this afternoon around and after 3pm today but outflow boundaries may spark additional storms across the city anytime between 5 to 9pm tonight. Large hail and strong winds are once again a possibility from storms through the evening.
PUEBLO: High – 67; Low – 33. Hot and humid today with storms looking to develop around 2pm this afternoon. Storms will push east slowly east into the plains with Pueblo county likely being dry by 6 to 7pm tonight. Large hail and strong winds are both possible with storms today.
CANON CITY: High – 67; Low – 33. Storms are possible in Fremont county and Canon City but most modeling shows the best potential in far eastern Fremont county closer to Pueblo. If storms do form this afternoon it would likely be after 2pm with large hail and strong winds both possible.
WOODLAND PARK: High – 67; Low – 33. Spotty showers and thunderstorms are possible in Woodland Park this afternoon but the best chances for rain seem to be east in El Paso county. Any storms that do form could have small to medium sized hail with nickle likely being the largest size.
TRI-LAKES: High – 67; Low – 33. Storms are possible this afternoon after 3pm and then again through the evening, especially along the Palmer Divide. Large hail and strong winds will be possible this afternoon but then also again early this evening.
PLAINS: High – 67; Low – 33. Strong and severe thunderstorms are likely this afternoon across the plains with storms likely starting near the I-25 corridor and then moving east through the evening. Large hail, strong winds and heavy rain with lightning is all possible from storms later today.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 67; Low – 33. Strong to severe storms look to develop around 2pm this afternoon and then slowly push east into the plains through the afternoon. Large hail and strong winds both look likely for any storms that develop later on today.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER:
Tomorrow will be the hottest day of the week with Colorado Springs warm into the lower 90s and Pueblo likely near 100. Storms will once again be possible Friday afternoon and evening with severe threats once again present. Saturday looks to be the driest day across southern Colorado with better storm chances returning Sunday through Tuesday.
